Formé Medical Center: Transforming Healthcare

As the fate of healthcare is strongly challenged, Healthcare Executives are constantly working on ways of impacting healthcare.  At Formé Medical Center, leaders Gina Cappelli, Founder and President and Maria M. Trusa, Partner and CEO have brought promise to the community with an innovative approach to improving healthcare outcomes.

A recent Census has publicized the vast number of uninsured patients to be 27 million in the US as a whole inclusive of 1,185,000 in New York State and 183,436 in Westchester County.   Many individuals often neglect their well-being due to the impediments of access, awareness and affordable healthcare.  In a conservatively employed population, there are often times where many are uninsured due to eligibility where earnings are above the qualifying range for Medicaid and/or are not sufficient to obtain plans similar to Obama Care.  Moreover, health and healthcare disparities are commonly viewed through race and ethnicity, but occur across a broad range of magnitudes.  Efforts to reduce disparities include a focus on designated priority populations who are vulnerable to health and healthcare disparities.  For many, there is certainty in the decreased and limited access to healthcare due to lack of education, awareness, language barrier and access to preventive care.

Formé Medical’s CEO, Maria M. Trusa is far too familiar with the challenges of the underserved and uninsured communities.  As a Dominican immigrant, Ms. Trusa experienced disparities at first hand.  Due to her own trials and tribulations and a 26 year trajectory as a Healthcare Executive in an organization exclusive to an affluent population, Ms. Trusa clearly recognized the need for transformation in healthcare for the uninsured and underserved communities being cognizant of the standards of quality care.

With a focus on the uninsured community at hand in Westchester County and sharing in the vision of transforming healthcare experiences, Ms. Cappelli and Ms. Trusa introduced a program known as the “Formé Medical Membership”  to impact the overall health and well-being of the uninsured and underserved communities; offering dignified, high-quality, accessible, transparent and affordable healthcare.
