Physical Exam for CDL (Taxi)

A CDL physical exam is the medical exam necessary to obtain a commercial driver's license. It is also known as the physical DOT and is mandatory for all taxi drivers.
They must complete and pass a physical exam on an annual basis to ensure their safety and that of the passengers they serve.


The purpose of this test is to determine a person’s fitness to drive safely, since commercial driving can have an adverse effect on health.

To obtain a commercial driver's license, the Department of Transportation (DOT) has defined the following requirements

  • Being over 18 years
  • Social Security number
  • Proof of residential address
  • Pass all tests
  • Valid medical examination report
